Halifax Regional Police Seek Information
Wednesday Afternoon Homicide In Halifax
On October 29th, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Halifax police received a report of an injured male at a Richmond Street residence. Police, firefighters and paramedics responded, performing life-saving measures, but the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Brian David Johnson, a 70-year-old man from Halifax, has been identified as the victim. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service conducted an autopsy yesterday, confirming the manner of death as homicide.
HRP/RCMP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division is leading the investigation. Individuals with information are asked to phone police at 902-490-5020.
According to a joint report from Halifax Regional Police (HRP) and the RCMP, there were four homicides in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and as of June 30th, 2025, Statistics Canada data from late October 2025 indicates that the total number of homicides in Halifax was 11. Official numbers for the entire year will be released when information becomes available.
